Life’s Work, Zumu - Move Museum 6th stop- Nahariya, 2022

2022
Organism 144 is a collaborative artistic installation-performance that brings together materials, ideas and actions to create an ecological-social manifesto, based on the belief that systems constitute the essence of human (and non-human) existence.
The project was presented for the second time and in a different format at the legendary deserted factory of Zoglobek, a sausage manufacturer and major employer for locals for decades in Nahariya. It was part of a large exhibition that explored the connectivity between the engineered spaces of the factory and ideas of a meaningful “life’s work”, productivity, manufacturing, individualism, and self-expression.
From the exhibition catalog: Material flow collective is composed of twelve designers who have chosen to create a new model of collaborative work. Each designer operates and creates within their own space, yet is simultaneously involved with and influenced by others working nearby.
The group’s inspiration comes from the natural world, where diverse ecological systems communicate with one another, and the symbiosis between them is vital for the survival of the whole.
The work Organism 144 illustrates the group’s working method. It is the result of monthly meetings held over the course of about two years. From one meeting to the next, the dialogue and the outcomes shared by members generated new and intriguing creations, some of which are presented in this installation.
Interestingly, many of the works created within the collective’s framework touch upon the inevitable interweaving of life and death.
Visitors are invited to explore the pieces, trace their sources of influence, and propose their own new connections.
