Inspired by Nietzsche’s aphorism (in The Gay Science) about the need to “keep bravely to the surface, the fold and the skin; to worship appearance, to believe in forms, tones, and words, in the whole Olympus of appearance!” Transparent, liquid materials were smeared on the words “Olympus of appearance,” dripping before they dried and blurring the letters. All that remains is the shell, a formless form.
